What are the benefits of having integrated solutions?
We believe that a one-stop provider who understands the needs of your company and the unique organizational culture that you have is important in partnering you in addressing the impact of change wherever you are. Having been in the people management business serving all major industries and established companies in the last 15 years, Human Dynamic is well-positioned to augment your strategies to help individuals, teams, and your organization at large.
You offer many different kinds of services. What then is your core expertise?
Although there are a variety of services available, they all boil down to one business – people. The IPMS services augment each other to address contemporary issues that impact on your human capital as a result of globalization and change. Human Dynamic’s role is to partner you in enhancing the effectiveness of your people, to bring about positive returns in your bottomline.
Does Human Dynamic help companies to create awareness and encourage employees to use the program?
Certainly. For programs to be successful, there must be active promotion and activities. Human Dynamic believes in partnership with the program’s stakeholders, and in proactive awareness-building of the program. Such initiatives are also helpful in normalizing help-seeking behaviour amongst employees. Human Dynamic has the advantage of staying attuned to your cultural and organizational needs because of our direct presence in the major Asia Pacific cities. We create awareness through a variety of means and localize such medium to enhance the effectiveness of your strategies so that the program is not merely a remedial solution to various people issues, but a preventative measure as well.
It is individual’s responsibility to take care of their own health and mental wellness, so why should companies spend resources on programs like EAP?
There is a very fine line between an employee’s personal and work life. Wherever and whatever the issue may be, employees that carry their stress around will be affected at work. Unaddressed, it has the potential of negatively affecting your company’s absenteeism and presenteeism rate, productivity, accident rate, etc. The World Health Organization, for example, informed in the World Health Report 2001 that, at any one time, 7.5% of a work force is likely to suffer from psycho-social health concerns (e.g. chronic depression, marital, parental, transitory issues). And up to 20% worker productivity loss can result if such psycho-social health concerns are left untreated (Journal of Mental Health Policy and Economics J. Mental Health Policy Econ. 2, 2000)
Do people use such services? If they do, will HR and the management know about it?
Yes, people do use such services. With effective partnership and proactive efforts, people benefit extensively from such services. Trends of the Work Life Coaching™ (EAP) utilization of Human Dynamic’s customers in 2006 are available here. Please contact us to know more about Human Dynamic’s experience and the utilization across Asia Pacific.
When employees engage in the service, the management will NOT know who they are. Confidentiality is of utmost importance and without the written permission of the user, their information will not be disclosed. HR and the management will receive a report on a quarterly basis, indicating statistical information on number of users, profile of users etc.
The only exception where confidentiality is breached is when the user is deemed to be a threat to him/herself or others. Human Dynamic’s consultants are highly trained to manage such situations under professional guidelines and rigorous internal practice protocols.
Can we measure the Return on Investments for implementing such programs?
There has been much documented evidence in the return on investments for companies who implement such programs. For instance, a survey conducted by Marsh & McLennon Company (1994) with 50 companies established that following the introduction of EAP, the absentee rate dropped by 21% and job accidents by 17% and a further 14% increase in productivity was reported. A McDonnell Douglas study demonstrated a savings of US$4 for every dollar invested in an EAP, and a decrease in absenteeism and tardiness. They identified a 60% reduction in turnover in the employee population following investment in EAP. Goetzel, Juday and Ozminskowski (1999) conducted a meta analysis of 21 studies regarding ROI, in partnership with employers and their managed care providers. All the programs reported a positive ROI from US$1.49 to US$13 per dollar spent. The mental health program showed one of the highest ROI’s compared to the various programs reviewed (Goetzel, et al., 1999).
At Human Dynamic, we believe that every company might have a culture, and a different emphasis in what they want to measure. Our team of consultants and CRM personnel work actively with companies before, during and after implementation to measure the returns on investments.
